2. Prohibited Uses
You may not:
- use the Service to engage in fraud, money laundering, terrorism financing, tax evasion, or any other illegal activity;
- upload, ingest, or transmit content that is unlawful, defamatory, infringing of intellectual property or privacy rights, obscene, hateful, or harassing;
- scrape, crawl, harvest, or otherwise extract data from the Service except via official APIs and within published rate limits, and never for the purpose of training third- party AI models;
- reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to derive the source code of the Service, except to the extent permitted by mandatory applicable law;
- introduce malware, ransomware, exploit code, or any device that may damage, disable, overburden, or impair the Service or another user's use of the Service;
- attempt to gain unauthorized access to other accounts, systems, or networks, or circumvent any rate-limiting, authentication, or access-control mechanism;
- test the security of the Service in any way other than via the published Security Researcher Safe Harbor at /legal/security;
- use the Service in a manner that violates the AUP of any of our service providers (including Plaid, Stripe, OpenAI, Anthropic, Cloudflare, Vercel, PlanetScale, or any successor); or
- resell, lease, or grant access to the Service to any third party without our prior written authorization (except household-shared use as expressly enabled in-product).
3. Sanctions and Export Controls
You represent and warrant that (a) you are not located in, or a national or resident of, any country subject to comprehensive U.S. sanctions (currently including Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, the Crimea region, the so-called Donetsk People's Republic, or the so-called Luhansk People's Republic), and (b) you are not on the U.S. Treasury Department's Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons (SDN) List, the Denied Persons List, or any other U.S. or EU/UK sanctions list. The Service is subject to U.S. export-control laws including the Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
4. AI-Specific Restrictions
In addition to the prohibitions above, you may not use Clarity's AI features to:
- submit prompts or attachments intended to extract another user's data, the system prompt, or other confidential information ("prompt injection");
- generate content intended to deceive, harass, or defraud another person, including deepfakes, impersonation, or unauthorized financial-instrument forgery;
- use AI outputs as personalized investment, tax, legal, or medical advice — outputs are educational only (see Terms §11);
- attempt to bypass content-safety controls, jailbreak the model, or coerce the model into producing prohibited output; or
- submit prompts that include another person's personal data without that person's consent.
5. Enforcement
We may investigate suspected violations of this AUP, and we may suspend, restrict, or terminate access to the Service in our reasonable discretion to address actual or threatened violations. We may report violations to appropriate authorities and cooperate with law-enforcement requests as required by law.
This AUP is incorporated by reference into the Terms of Service, including §7 (Acceptable Use) and §14 (Termination). Capitalized terms not defined here have the meanings given in the Terms.
