Clarity gives Coinbase users a Coinbase tracker that organizes Coinbase balances, deposits, withdrawals, trade history, cost basis, and crypto exposure in one dashboard, so the exchange is reviewed with the same discipline as the rest of the household balance sheet. Coinbase becomes more actionable when you can compare it with bank cash, brokerage accounts, wallets, and total net worth, because transfers, realized gains, and concentration risk matter most when they are connected to the rest of your portfolio. Clarity pairs Coinbase search intent with the app's broader planning, monitoring, and reporting workflows so the page is useful beyond a single query or isolated account snapshot. That makes Coinbase practical for weekly crypto portfolio reviews and tax-lot checkups, especially when you need clean visibility for cost basis reviews, transfer reconciliation, and crypto tax planning.
Use these workflow guides to understand where this integration fits best inside Clarity.
Spending Analysis
Classify merchant activity, recurring charges, and category trends for daily cash-flow control.
Balance Verification
Validate account balances quickly for underwriting checks, onboarding, and account health workflows.
Tax Reporting
Generate cost basis reports, capital gains summaries, and transaction exports for tax filing workflows.
Net Worth Tracking
Aggregate account balances across banks, brokerages, exchanges, and wallets into a single net worth timeline.
Crypto Tax
Calculate crypto capital gains using FIFO lot matching with wash sale detection across exchanges and wallets.
Clarity treats Coinbase as two different workflows because that is what the underlying data really is. Your Coinbase exchange account belongs in the exchange sync path for balances, trades, deposits, withdrawals, and transfer history. Your Coinbase Card belongs in a separate monthly statement workflow for card purchases and payments.
That split matters because it keeps portfolio reporting, spending analysis, and tax workflows clean. Exchange balances should not be reconstructed from card statements, and card activity should not masquerade as general exchange history. Clarity makes the distinction explicit so the data stays defensible.
Once Coinbase exchange data and Coinbase Card statement data are handled through the correct paths, the rest of your financial picture gets easier to review. You can compare Coinbase activity with banks, brokerages, liabilities, and wallets without manually untangling which events came from trading versus card spending.
Coinbase exchange data belongs in the exchange sync path, while Coinbase Card activity belongs in the separate statement workflow.
Use the Coinbase exchange connection for balances and non-card transaction history, then use monthly Coinbase Card statements separately for card activity.
Connect Coinbase with a read-only API key
Use the Connect page to add Coinbase as an exchange via ccxt. This is the source for Coinbase balances, transfers, trades, deposits, and withdrawals in Clarity.
Keep card data separate from exchange data
Do not use Coinbase Card statements as the source for regular Coinbase account balances or non-card activity. Those should come from the Coinbase exchange sync only.
Open Coinbase Card statements in the mobile app
In the Coinbase app, go to Credit card, then Manage, then See documents to access monthly statements. Coinbase currently documents statement access there rather than a direct card transaction export.
Upload monthly Coinbase Card PDFs when you need card activity
Upload only Coinbase Card monthly statement PDFs in Clarity's statement importer. Card purchases and payments are parsed from those statements, while exchange balances and non-card transactions continue to sync through ccxt.
Exchange balances
Current balances across all wallets on the exchange (spot, margin, futures).
Trade history
Up to 2 years of trade data per market symbol with cost basis calculation.
Deposits and withdrawals
Fiat and crypto deposit and withdrawal history with timestamps.
Staking rewards
Ledger entries for staking, airdrops, and dust conversions where supported.
Cost basis (FIFO)
Automatic FIFO cost basis calculation with wash sale detection for tax reporting.
Read-only API keys
Clarity only requires read-only API permissions. Never grant withdrawal or trading access to your exchange API key.
Encrypted credential storage
API keys and secrets are encrypted at rest before storage. They are never logged or exposed in plaintext.
No withdrawal capability
Clarity cannot move funds on your exchange. The connection is strictly for balance and trade history retrieval.
