Frequently Asked Questions

Should I save for all goals at once or one at a time?

A hybrid approach works best. Always maintain emergency fund contributions. Then focus 70-80% of extra savings on your top priority goal and 20-30% on secondary goals. This creates focus without completely ignoring other goals.

What if I cannot afford the required monthly amount?

Either extend your target date or reduce the goal amount. You can also look for ways to boost savings: sell unused items, reduce subscriptions, or take on temporary side work. Even saving less than the ideal amount still makes progress.

Should I invest my savings or keep them in cash?

For goals less than 3 years away, use a high-yield savings account (no market risk). For goals 3-5 years out, consider a conservative mix of bonds and CDs. Only invest in stocks for goals more than 5 years away.
